Client comments for Anna Fisher’s piano studio serving the Beaverton, Hillsboro, and NW Portland areas.
"Ms. Anna is a gem, that rare teacher whose love of music naturally overflows into her teaching style. In the past three years, my daughter has grown from a beginner 6-year-old learning her do-re-mi's to a young musician, developing a proficiency with techniques alongside a deepening appreciation for music and its vast repertoire. Furthermore, thanks to Ms. Anna's example and encouragement, my daughter now understands that discipline and practice are necessary to grow. Ms. Anna has brought her this far with an infectious warmth, as both her love for music and children shine through with each lesson.
Even more interesting, with some hesitation, I signed up my more rambunctious 6-year-old son this past year. A true testament to Ms. Anna's effective teaching style, my usually squirmy son not only pays attention in each lesson, but he looks forward to them with great enthusiasm! In just one semester, he has come a long way in learning to read music, and is beginning to appreciate playing the piano in his own right. For both of my kids to respond so effectively to Ms. Anna demonstrates that not only is she a gifted musician, but an incredible teacher. She has the insight to understand children's different personalities, and harnesses their strengths so that ultimately each child can thrive on the instrument - equipped with solid techniques but with the freedom to enjoy the art of music in their unique way." Jennie J.
"I have been taking lessons from Anna Fisher for about a year now and have progressed faster than I ever thought possible. I'm an adult returning student and truly value her teaching style. She's patient and kind, and she can answer any question I come up with. Anna is very knowledgeable and offers her students a well-rounded musical experience. Not only does she help me with my piano playing, she also is training me in music theory. I look forward to my lessons every week and leave inspired and encouraged to keep practicing and learning. Anna is truly an artist, and I would highly recommend her to others." Cindy E. (adult student)
“We are very grateful to have found a teacher that combines excellent instruction with cheerful kindness. Our children’s musical skills have improved dramatically after just one year of lessons.” Miriam B.
"Ms. Anna is the best piano teacher in our opinion. My child started with her when only poking at the keys, and now our little one can play Beethoven Sonatinas and is performing at music festivals, being chosen (by audition) for masterclasses and receiving awards in competitions. Ms. Anna balances educating a child in not only playing the piano but also fostering technical development, sight-reading skills, performing, application of music theory, etiquette as a musician and how to give attention to details. The perfect piano lesson that includes all the aspects mentioned above is rare. You will learn not only how to play well at a top-tier level, but also learn to appreciate music as an aggregated part of life in the development of a person. Her care for students is amazing. " David D.
"Anna operates with a rare combination of musical expertise, personal warmth and extreme conscientiousness with each of her students. Although my experience as a piano teacher exceeds Anna's by 20+ years, I often consult with her about teaching strategies, literature, etc. She demonstrates a thorough, thoughtful understanding of all things piano. Anna is a highly-regarded colleague among teachers in the area, and she has a reputation for producing students who are well-trained, inspired musicians. You won't find better instruction than at Fisher Piano Studio. Highly recommend! Jo G. (professional piano teacher/ colleague)
“I have been impressed by Ms. Anna from day one! She has the unique ability to bring out the best in her students while encouraging their music appreciation. She is a wonderfully warm, yet firm, teacher and we are ever grateful to have found her.” Julie D.
“In her two years teaching my daughters beginning piano, Ms. Anna has been a sensitive, yet very disciplined, instructor. My daughter has made rapid progress in learning to play. Adding to a basic beginner curriculum, Ms. Anna has taken the time to help my daughter with her own “compositions” and allowed her to play jazz and classical melodies, experiences which have greatly contributed to my daughter's enthusiasm. Above all, Ms. Anna is a delightful role model for any young person aspiring to play. I also spent several months taking lessons from her and appreciated the many practice techniques and the musical history she shared with me as she got me playing again after a twenty year hiatus.” Sarah W.
“Our daughter's piano playing has improved tremendously in the past year. Ms. Anna has helped her grow musically and has introduced her to a diverse collection of music.” Winnie C.
“I have been a student of Anna Fisher for approximately six years. I began taking lessons from her just after 6th grade, and have stayed with her through my high school graduation. ‘Ms. Anna’ is highly qualified, not only because of her training at the Eastman School of Music but also because of her ability to work with a range of ages. I have learned so much from her both as a student and as a person. Ms. Anna has improved my technique, musicality, and of course playing ability. However, she has also taught me the importance of discipline when it comes to daily practicing and that good things come with time. She has introduced me to a variety of styles and composers, and made sure that I was always playing an assortment of pieces to mature as a piano player.
I have also seen Ms. Anna work with my younger sister. In just a few years, my sister has developed from a quiet student learning out of method books to a confident musician. Ms. Anna works with each student individually to make sure that they are building their repertoire, whether it be for a recital, festival/competition, or even college audition. Most importantly, Ms. Anna is a caring and sensitive teacher, who will do whatever it takes to make sure that her students are learning but also having fun. I have enjoyed performing with the Fisher Piano Studio for the past six years and am sure that any new student of Ms. Anna’s will appreciate how dramatically they will improve and learn to love piano.” Hana C. (high school graduate)

(adult student)
